The vessel was built in 1974 at the Gøtaverken in Sweden and was from 1997 to 2006 a combined FSO and shuttle tanker on the Oribi/Oryx field offshore South Africa.

Knock Dee has recently been refurbished at Dubai Drydock.

El Paso, Brazil has an option to use Knock Dee as an FSO for Pinauna field offshore Brazil. The option expires end June 2010.
